We had a friend take a couple pictures the week before Mike started treatment. You can see the bandage still on his neck from surgery.
Things are going great for us! If things go as plan we are halfway done! Last week we had another PET scan to see how Mike has been responding to the treatment. Before the scan the doctor had sat down with us to go over the different possibilities as treatment progressed. He explained that Mike has mixed cellularity Hodgekins, which is considered "unfavorable", and that since it was in more than three regions, that is considered "unfavorable." When we left I think Mike was really down, for one of the first times. We have had the mindset of 4 months of treatment, and we were talking about the possibility of two more months of treatment. Yuck! I hate hearing about cancer taking lives of young individuals (before 65ish) it just makes me sad. There is a chance that Mike's cancer could come back, or that he could get another secondary cancer. I just don't want to have to worry about this the rest of our lives! Well the PET scan went really well! Mike is responding great to treatments, the cancer activity was only visible on the right side of his neck. Wahoo. So for now we can just pray that things continue to go so well. We are so blessed!
