Weaving
One of the days in Chiang Rai I took a weaving course. A lady from the hill tribe village came and spent the day helping me make a scarf. It was a unique situation since she didn't speak English or much Thai- she spoke her tribal language. There was a lot of watching and then doing.
It started pouring crazy rain and so we ended up under the bamboo hut where it was dry.
We stuck bamboo pegs in the ground and wrapped the string around them, about a million times. Then we carefully wrapped it up to transport it to our loom.
We created the loom with other pieces of bamboo and held it taut by tying it to a railing and then looping it around our back.
The rain stopped and it was beautiful.
With a lot of time and help from my instructor, I was able to finish and bring home a beautiful scarf!
